Sending photos in good quality is finally possible on WhatsApp 📸

Despite its popularity, WhatsApp suffered from an annoying limitation: photo compression. Although this feature saves mobile data, the lack of choice frustrated many users. However, this inconvenience will soon be a thing of the past.

Share high-resolution photos 📸

Initially in beta phase since June 2023 and discovered by WABetaInfo, this long-awaited feature will now be rolled out worldwide by Meta.

By default, photos will continue to be sent in standard quality to avoid overloading the recipient’s storage space and to guarantee rapid transmission. However, you will now be able to send high-resolution photos thanks to a new « HD » button that will appear in the photo editing options.

For their part, recipients will be able to choose between keeping the standard version or opting for high resolution.

« For images received with low bandwidth, it will then be possible to choose, frame by frame, whether to keep the standard version or record it in high definition ».

As for videos, we’ll have to wait a little longer.
