Good news for WhatsApp users! The messaging application is currently working on a new feature that will enable you to dial numbers directly from the application, without having to save contacts first.
Make calls from WhatsApp 📞
Until now, making a call on WhatsApp required selecting an existing contact or creating a new one. This step is often considered inconvenient and time-consuming by users. WhatsApp is responding to this demand by currently testing an in-app dialer, enabling users to dial a number directly. The information comes from the WABetaInfo site, which is no stranger to WhatsApp news. This greatly simplifies the calling process, eliminating the need to save each new number in the address book.
The new dialer is accessible via a floating button in the « Calls » tab, represented by a keypad icon. By clicking on it, users can dial a number and make a call instantly. This feature also offers the option of quickly saving the dialed number in the address book, or adding it to an existing contact. This approach not only speeds up the calling process, it also adds a layer of security. Indeed, it avoids storing numbers that could give access to personal information such as profile photo or status.
This feature, spotted in beta version 2.24.13.17 of WhatsApp for Android, is still being tested. WhatsApp plans to gradually extend it to more users in the coming days. The roll-out date for the stable version of the application has not yet been announced.
