A year after the launch of its first smartphone, Nothing, the brand created by the ex-cofounder of OnePlus, is back with its new smartphone, the Phone(2). No revolution, but an improvement in the quality inside.
New features with Glyph✨
With the Phone(1), Nothing laid the foundations for its range of smartphones: a symmetrical front panel and a totally transparent rear panel. The transparent design of the smartphone remains the main selling point of the range, and Nothing has perfected its formula this year.
While the front doesn’t change much compared with the previous smartphone, the new model should be easier to hold in the hand thanks to its slightly convex back, which moulds more closely to the shape of the hand. In fact, the back of the smartphone remains the star feature of this model. The LED system, dubbed Glyph, now includes more LEDs, offering new features such as a battery level display and a timer when the phone is switched off.
A top-of-the-range chip, customisation and widgets🚀
With this new iteration, Nothing has opted for a high-end chip. Although not the most recent model, the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, released in 2022, should be suitable for most everyday tasks. The chip is backed by 8 to 12 GB of RAM. On the camera side, there are still two sensors, wide-angle and ultra-wide-angle, with 50MP.
The Nothing Phone 2 runs on the Nothing OS 2.0 operating system, based on Android 13. This new version of the system focuses on personalisation and widgets. As far as updates are concerned, the plan is to offer 3 years of major updates and 4 years of security patches (every two months).
The Nothing Phone is available for pre-order for delivery from 17 July. If you’re interested, you’ll need to pay €679 for the 8/128GB version, €729 for the 12/256GB model and €849 for the 12/512GB model.
