Honor has just made a big splash in the world of foldable smartphones. With its new Magic V3, the Chinese brand is redefining standards for thinness and performance. This innovative model could well give industry giants, particularly Samsung, a run for their money.
A design all about thinness 🤏🏾
The Magic V3 stands out for its exceptional thinness. At only 9.2 mm thick when folded, it far surpasses Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 6, which measures 12.1 mm. This is not just a technical feat, it’s a demonstration of Honor’s ability to innovate without compromising.
Indeed, even with this impressive thinness, the device retains high-end features. Its weight of 226 grams also puts it at the top of the lightest devices in its category, barely exceeding a classic smartphone. The technical prowess doesn’t stop there. The Magic V3’s hinge, only 2.84 mm thick, can withstand 500,000 folds.
Moreover, the smartphone is IPX8 certified, guaranteeing water resistance up to 2.5 meters deep. However, it doesn’t reach the IP48 protection of the Galaxy Z Fold 6, which also resists solid particles.
Impressive specifications 🚀
The Honor Magic V3 doesn’t just rely on its thinness. It’s equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, coupled with a 5,150 mAh battery. In comparison, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 has a battery of only 4,400 mAh. For demanding users, 66W fast charging and 50W wireless charging are welcome additions.
On the screen side, Honor hasn’t skimped on details. The Magic V3 has a 7.92-inch internal screen and a 6.43-inch external screen, both in LTPO OLED 120 Hz. With a peak brightness of 2500 cd/m2 for the external screen, the visual experience is assured.
Honor hasn’t neglected the photo aspect. The Magic V3 is equipped with a triple rear module. It includes a 50 MP wide-angle (f/1.6), a 50 MP telephoto (f/3.0), and a 40 MP ultra-wide-angle (f/2.2). For selfies, two 20 MP sensors are present. They are placed inside and outside the device.
An ambitious but competitive price 🤑
Honor has chosen to maintain a price similar to that of the Magic V2, with a base of €1,999.90. Although this price remains high, the brand offers interesting launch offers. Until October 6, a €300 discount as well as a stylus and a 66W charger are included, bringing the cost down to €1,699.90.
The Honor Magic V3 sets new standards in the world of foldable smartphones. Thinness, lightness, performance, and careful design make it a formidable competitor to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. It remains to be seen whether this new model can conquer the international market as soon as it launches.
