Instagram continues to enhance the user experience by adding five new features to direct messages. The goal: to make communication more intuitive, interactive, and accessible. Whether you want to schedule a message, share a song, pin essential info, or break language barriers, Instagram has thought of everything.

Schedule your messages easily 📅

Want to send a message at the right time without having to remember it? Now you can, thanks to DM scheduling! Simply type your message, long-press the send button, select the desired date and time, and confirm. Perfect for remembering a birthday or scheduling an important reminder.

Never lose important messages again 📌

After allowing users to pin entire conversations, Instagram is taking it a step further by letting you pin specific messages within a chat. This is great for keeping a memo, an iconic joke, or essential info within reach. You can pin up to three messages per conversation and update them anytime.

Share your favorite music 🎧

Instagram now integrates a music sticker directly into DMs. No need to leave the app—discover, share, and send a 30-second snippet of a song with an animated vinyl effect. A fun and immersive way to introduce your favorite tracks.

Translate messages instantly 🌐

Language barriers disappear with the new instant translation feature. Now, a long press on a received or sent message in another language will display a translation right below it. A major asset for international conversations and multilingual users.

QR codes for easy invites 💌

Need to add a friend to a group chat? Instagram makes it simple with personalized QR codes for each group chat. Share the code with your friends in person or online, and they can instantly join the conversation. The admin remains in control, with the ability to regenerate the QR code at any time.

A « dislike » button in testing 💡

Instagram is experimenting with a « dislike » button for comments. Unlike a visible dislike, this option remains private and aims to improve discussion moderation. The idea is to help the algorithm better rank comments and push inappropriate ones further down the thread. If the test proves successful, Instagram may roll out this feature more widely.

These new updates further strengthen the central role of DMs in the Instagram experience. Whether it’s for better organization, sharing passions, or chatting without barriers, Instagram is focusing on accessibility and interaction. Will the platform continue innovating in this direction? Stay tuned!

Do you regularly use Instagram DMs? If so, what do you think of these new features? Join the discussion in the comments!
