The beginning of the year is often a busy time in terms of new smartphone announcements. After Samsung, it’s Xiaomi’s turn to present its new flagships, to try to counter the Korean giant.
Xiaomi 13 or the affordable high-end📱
With this new smartphone, Xiaomi does not intend to revolutionize an already mature sector. The Chinese brand nevertheless offers us a smartphone with a neat and refined design, and of course waterproof. If its flat edges may remind another smartphone brand, it has a slightly curved AMOLED screen of 6.36 inches with a FHD + (2400 x 1080 pixels) and a refresh rate of 120 Hz adaptive.
High-end smartphone obliges, Xiaomi did not skimp on the photo part. For this new smartphone, the Chinese manufacturer has partnered with the German camera brand LEICA to provide its lenses but also its photographic styles. You will then have in your hands a main wide-angle module of 50 MP – which benefits from optical stabilization -, an ultra-wide-angle of 12 MP and a telephoto module of 10 MP. On the selfie side, Xiaomi has gone all out with a 32MP module, featuring pixel binning technology, which combines 4 pixels in 1 to improve the clarity of photos.
Under the hood is the now famous Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, backed by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The very fast 67W charge will recharge the 4500mAh battery in 38 minutes. The wireless charging is 50W and the reverse wireless charging, to charge your accessories is 10W.
The Xiaomi 13 will be available from March 8 in black, white, green from € 999 for the version with 256GB of storage.
Xiaomi 13 Pro: Xiaomi flexes its muscles 💪🏾
If we had to sum up the Xiaomi 13 Pro in one sentence, we’d say it’s the Xiaomi 13, but better.
It’s better with its larger 6.73-inch screen that takes advantage of WQHD+ definition as well as adaptive 120 Hz (down to 1 Hz). It is better with its bigger battery of 4820 mAh against 4500 mAh for its little brother. Even the fast charge is even better as it goes up to 120W to go from 0 to 100% battery in just 19 minutes.
Even the photo module is better with a triple module of 50MP: main module with a 1 inch sensor, ultra-wide angle and a telephoto lens that are also 50MP. Under the hood it’s also better with the memory that goes from 8GB to 12GB.
On the other hand, the price is not better because you will have to pay 1299€ to get it in black or white.
Xiaomi 13 Lite: the affordable lightweight 🪶
As its name suggests, the Xiami 13 Lite is a lighter version of the Xiaomi 13 . With its featherweight, it has a curved design with a 6.55-inch Full HD+ (2400 x 1080 pixels) AMOLED screen and a 120 Hz refresh rate.
To lower the bill, Xiaomi has made concessions with a mid-range processor, Snapdragon 7 Gen 1. Same sound on the photo part: no LEICA lens, main sensor of 50Mpx, ultra wide angle of 8Mpx, and macro of 2Mpx. Xiaomi nevertheless promises bright photos thanks to the improved main module with 123% brightness compared to the Xiaomi 12 Lite. For the selfie part, the Xiaomi 13 Lite has a dual module: 32Mpx and 8Mpx for depth of field. The fast charge of 67W is still part of the game and will charge the smartphone in 38 minutes.
The concessions also continue on the software side. If the older generation is entitled to Android 13 with MIUI 14, the Xiaomi 13 Lite has to make do with Android 12 with only two years of major updates.
It will be available from March 8 in light blue, light pink and black for €499 (8+128 GB).
