Capgemini Bets on Egypt: A New AI Center of Excellence in the Heart of Cairo🌍

In May 2025, French tech giant Capgemini will open an artificial intelligence center of excellence in the Egyptian capital. This initiative marks a new step in the company’s technological expansion strategy. It also follows the launch of its technology and delivery center in November 2023.

A hub for AI innovation and consulting 🤖

The new center will specialize in the development, integration, and consulting of artificial intelligence solutions. It will serve Capgemini’s clients in Europe and the Middle East, while leveraging local expertise.

The center has a twofold mission: to deliver cutting-edge AI solutions and to help develop a pool of regional talent capable of working on international projects.

“Doubling our workforce and establishing this new AI center of excellence will foster advanced innovation. It will also create valuable opportunities for local talent to thrive on the international stage,” said Hossam Seifeldin, Managing Director of Capgemini Egypt.

Egypt’s aspiration to become a regional AI Hub 🌐

With this new investment, Egypt aims to position itself as a regional hub for digital services. The 2024 AI Readiness Index by Oxford Insights gives Egypt a score of 55.63 out of 100, significantly above the Middle East and North Africa regional average of 48.50. A promising sign for investors and tech giants alike.

Despite this positive momentum, structural challenges remain. The country’s scores in human capital (47.33) and technology (42.13) highlight areas for improvement—particularly in advanced AI training and the integration of these technologies into local industries.

A €2 Billion investment strategy 💰

The opening of the Cairo center is part of a broader strategy involving €2 billion in AI development over the coming years. By choosing Egypt, Capgemini is capitalizing on a stable economic environment, a tech-savvy youth population, and a strong national drive for innovation.

Through this initiative, Capgemini is strengthening its footprint on the African continent while helping position Egypt within global tech production networks.
