As digital services multiply across Africa, managing and protecting personal data has become a defining technology challenge. In Dakar, Senegal’s Data Protection Commission (CDP) is hosting a study visit on data governance and protection that began on September 7, 2026. Running until September 11, the gathering brings together several African data protection authorities to tackle shared challenges around how data moves, is used, and is secured within digital ecosystems.

As services, businesses, and government agencies go increasingly digital, data now sits at the center of Africa’s digital economies. Collecting, processing, moving, and protecting it all requires governance mechanisms built for these new technological realities.
