We’ve all done it—walked away from our desks and forgotten to lock our computers. And sometimes, that’s all it takes for a mischievous coworker to take advantage. But Microsoft’s latest feature might just become your go-to solution for peace of mind: you can now remotely lock your Windows 11 PC straight from your Android phone. It’s not a gimmick—it’s a genuinely useful addition that blends convenience with security, and it could easily become a new everyday habit.

One-tap security from your phone 👆

The feature is rolling out via version 1.25071.165 (or higher) of the Link to Windows app for Android. Once your phone is paired with your Windows 11 machine using the Phone Link app, locking your PC is just a tap away.

Here’s how it works: as long as both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network and logged in with the same Microsoft account, you’ll see a “Lock PC” button appear in the mobile app. One tap, and your PC locks instantly. Bonus: the feature also severs the phone-to-PC connection, adding an extra layer of privacy.

More than just a lock: a mobile control hub 🛠️

The remote lock is just the beginning. Microsoft is clearly aiming to turn the Link to Windows app into a full-fledged control center for your digital life. From wireless file sharing to screen mirroring and real-time transfer previews, the revamped UI is sleeker, faster, and more intuitive than ever.

In short, it’s not just about locking your PC—it’s about creating a seamless, secure bridge between your smartphone and your computer. And it’s working.

A gradual rollout, but full of promise 🚀

The feature is rolling out gradually, so some users with newer devices might already see it, while others may have to wait a few more weeks. But what’s clear is that Microsoft is pushing hard on Android-Windows integration—and it’s paying off.

When security and fluidity meet, it’s not just about saving time. It’s about feeling in control, whether you’re at home or at the office.

A small gesture with big impact ✨

With just a tap on your phone, you can now lock your Windows 11 PC from anywhere in the room (or house). It’s a small but meaningful feature that makes everyday tech use a little more thoughtful—and a lot more secure.

Could this be the start of more remote features like voice commands, geofencing, or smart home integration? It certainly feels like the foundation for something bigger.

Would you use this new feature? Curious to see how far remote control can go? Let’s talk in the comments.
