WhatsApp unveils two new features to improve privacy on the app🔐

For some years now, WhatsApp has been focusing on privacy within its application, offering a variety of features, from end-to-end encryption to the ability to hide your online presence. Today, WhatsApp is adding two new features to its arsenal: mute unknown numbers and privacy check up.

Unknown numbers will no longer make your phone ring 📵

Spam has proliferated enormously in recent years. Hardly a week goes by without receiving calls from unknown numbers. While some phones have a spam filtering feature in the Phone application, WhatsApp didn’t until now.

Thanks to this new feature, you can automatically filter out spam, scams and calls from unknown numbers. These calls won’t make your phone ring, but they’ll remain visible in your call list, in case it’s something important. To access this option, go to Settings > Privacy > Calls.

A checklist to review your privacy settings 🔐

As mentioned earlier, WhatsApp offers a number of privacy settings, which can be useful in everyday life. However, not all users are necessarily aware of these options, or may forget to activate them. That’s why WhatsApp has put together a step-by-step guide to the application’s various privacy settings. To access it, go to the « Privacy » menu from the application settings, then click on « Start checkup » in the message that appears at the top of your screen. All you have to do is let yourself be guided to learn how to use the various functions designed to best protect your messages, calls and personal information.
