WhatsApp Launches Features to Limit Spam 🛡️

WhatsApp, the instant messaging app from the Meta group, is introducing new features aimed at improving the user experience by reducing unwanted notifications and strengthening protection against spam.

An innovative anti-spam shield🛡️

The Android beta version 2.24.17.24 of WhatsApp, currently being tested, introduces a function that automatically blocks messages from unknown accounts. Spotted by WABetaInfo, this option, once activated, will filter out unwanted communications as soon as they exceed a certain volume. It thus offers increased protection against phishing attempts and other malicious content.

This new feature builds on WhatsApp’s existing algorithms. They already detect suspicious behavior and mass sending. It will offer users additional control over their inbox, while improving the app’s performance by reducing the amount of data to process.

Less Intrusive Status Reactions 🤫

In an effort to simplify, WhatsApp is also changing how status reactions are handled. From now on, when a user reacts to a status, this action will no longer generate a message in the main inbox. Instead, a simple notification will appear in the list of people who have viewed the status. This behavior is the same as found on Instagram.

It should be noted that these features are still in the testing phase. They will be deployed in a future update of the application. WhatsApp thus continues to evolve by drawing inspiration from best practices within the Meta group.
