Colorful bubbles and new backgrounds: WhatsApp finally lets you personalize your chats! 🎨

WhatsApp has just introduced a long-awaited feature: Chat Themes. No more default green for everyone! You can now choose from a variety of options to give your conversations a unique touch with colorful bubbles and new wallpapers.

Colors and dedicated backgrounds 🎭

With this update, you have two main choices:

• Opt for a predefined theme, which changes both the wallpaper and chat bubbles at the same time.
• Customize it your way by mixing your favorite colors for a look that suits you.

WhatsApp also offers 30 new wallpapers to further enhance your experience. And if that’s not enough, you can import your own images from your gallery.

One of the highlights of this feature is the freedom it gives you. You can:

• Apply the same theme to all your chats.
• Give each conversation a different style.
• Change the look of your WhatsApp channels. (Don’t forget to personalize your favorite one, TechGriot 😉)

Important: These changes are only visible to you. Your chat partner won’t see the theme you’re using.

How to enable chat themes? ⚙️

The update is currently rolling out and will gradually reach all users over the next few weeks. To personalize your chats, follow these steps:

• Change the global theme: Settings > Chats > Default chat theme.
• Change a theme for a specific chat: Tap the contact’s name at the top (iOS) or the three-dot menu (Android) > Chat theme.

With this update, WhatsApp is finally embracing the personalization trend, a recurring request from users. While it’s not a groundbreaking feature, it adds real value to the chat experience. Now, we just have to wait for the option to share themes with our contacts… Maybe in a future update?
