There is an adage that says, culture is what we have left when we have forgotten everything. And one of the foundations of culture is language. For this reason, learning one’s mother tongue is more than important, even more so nowadays when Africa is at a crossroads and needs its children to draw on their culture to help them meet the challenges ahead. That’s where the Mayege app, designed by Kaama Enterprises, comes in. Mayege means « I learn » in the Ewondo vernacular of Cameroon. It is easy to understand the objective of the application to allow you to learn, discover or rediscover African languages, all in a fun way. The application uses a multiple choice system with visuals and sound to immerse you in the experience.
How does the learning process work ?
First of all, you will have to create an account on the application. To make life easier, you can do it via your Facebook account or your Google account if you already have one. Otherwise, it will be via an email address. Once your account is created, you will be able to choose among the available languages grouped by country. In addition to the languages offered at launch, new ones will be added gradually via updates.
The learning curriculum is divided into lessons that are locked except for the first one. Once you have finished with a lesson, the next lesson will automatically be unlocked, so you don’t skip any steps. 😉
Each lesson consists of a series of questions in the form of multiple-choice questions to help you understand the material. Notifications are integrated so that you don’t lose track of your learning.
Learning is paid and the application will be available on the PlayStore and soon on the Apple Store
