Digital infrastructure is now woven into how governments, companies and industrial sites operate. Protecting it has become a major concern as cyber threats evolve fast. That was the backdrop for the Cyber Resilience Forum, held in Yaoundé on September 29, 2026, to discuss how to secure complex infrastructure. Sponsored by Cameroon’s Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, the ministry in charge of the country’s telecoms sector, the event brought together public institutions and private companies under the theme « Strengthening Cybersecurity in Complex Infrastructures. » Russian cybersecurity company Kaspersky was among those presenting its expertise and products.
Infrastructure under pressure from cyber threats 🔐
The forum aimed to draw organizations’ attention to fast-changing cyber threats and to technology responses that can be tailored to different environments. Discussions covered the needs of individuals, businesses, government agencies and industrial sites.
The more organizations rely on digital systems, the more the infrastructure that collects, processes and stores their data needs protecting. According to Alexander Morozov, a counselor at the Russian embassy in Cameroon, Kaspersky’s representatives were there to showcase technologies Russia is developing in digital and, more specifically, cybersecurity.
« The purpose of the visit by Kaspersky’s representatives is always to present the digital solutions that Russia is developing, in the sense of promoting digital technologies and, soon, cybersecurity technologies, » he said.
Data at the heart of the security debate 📊
Beyond hardware, speakers stressed the growing role of data in how organizations run. In the 21st century, personal information and the data handled by companies and agencies help, among other things, to improve services.
But using more data means securing the systems that gather, process and store it. For a government agency, a security breach can expose confidential information, cut off access to digital services and erode public trust.
Kaspersky widens its offer 🏢
Founded in 1997, Kaspersky says it has nearly thirty years of experience in cybersecurity. Mikhail Nagorny, who leads enterprise solutions, said the company has gradually broadened its offer. It began with products for individual users, then expanded to serve businesses and large organizations.
« We started as a company offering services and solutions to ordinary users. As we evolved, we began providing solutions to businesses, » he said.
Today, the offer presented targets organizations of different sizes and sectors: small and medium-sized businesses, large groups employing tens of thousands of people, as well as industrial players and public institutions.
Nagorny also described Africa as a developing market, where cybersecurity needs are expected to grow as individuals, businesses and governments go digital.
Protection beyond the desktop 🖥️
For public infrastructure, Kaspersky pitches an approach that goes beyond securing workstations. Nagorny said its solutions span several layers, from computers to network infrastructure, industrial installations and government portals.
« For public infrastructure, we offer many solutions, ranging from computer protection with antivirus and anti-malware tools to securing specific infrastructure, the network perimeter, industrial facilities and particular systems, such as government web portals, » he said.
In practice, that means several layers of defense. Workstations can be shielded from viruses and malware, and networks secured against intrusions and unauthorized access.
Industrial facilities, meanwhile, need protection suited to their specialized digital systems. And government portals are a key piece too, since they give access to many public services online.
Government portals in the spotlight 🏛️
As administrations move services online, securing government platforms becomes especially sensitive. These portals can hold personal data, official documents and essential procedures for citizens and businesses alike.
Protecting them is therefore tied directly to keeping digital services running. In that sense, cybersecurity is no longer only about stopping an attack. It is also about keeping operations going when an incident hits, limiting the damage and restoring services quickly.
Resilience goes beyond software 🛡️
The forum’s theme reflects that shift. Protecting infrastructure takes more than installing security software: it also requires sound governance, trained teams, continuous monitoring, tight access management and regular backups.
Incident preparedness is another pillar, so organizations can respond when a threat materializes. In Cameroon, where digital transformation is gradually reaching government, businesses and essential services, securing infrastructure is a matter of business continuity and digital trust.
Public and private sectors at one table 🤝
By bringing public and private players together, the forum aims to encourage the sharing of experience and expertise on new digital threats. The discussions put forward a range of technology responses for increasingly interconnected infrastructure.
The challenge now is to adapt these solutions to organizations’ needs while building skills, governance and incident preparedness. Through this event, cybersecurity is presented as a direct companion to the digital transformation of governments, businesses and critical infrastructure in Cameroon.
