Microsoft regularly rolls out updates to Windows 11, called Moments. While they don’t revolutionise the operating system, they do bring a few small changes.
What’s new in Moment 3😯
Called Moment 3, the new Windows update is currently being rolled out. One of the changes you’re likely to notice concerns the ‘Print Screen’ key. Before the update, this key was used to take a screenshot and save the image to the Windows clipboard. From now on, it will open the screen capture tool, which was previously accessible via the shortcut Windows + Shift + S.
Other new features include:
- The addition of real-time French subtitles
- The Windows 11 clock can now display seconds
- A new notification in the Mobile Connected application lets you quickly copy 2FA codes received by SMS
- VPNs now have a dedicated indicator in the notifications area.
- Support for Bluetooth Low Energy Audio has been added, enabling you to enjoy good audio quality while saving energy
- New privacy settings are available in Settings
- New accessibility features have been added.
- CABC (Content Adaptive Brightness Control) has been added, enabling energy savings on laptops.
- A new settings page for OneDrive has been added to the Windows 11 settings.
What does the future hold for Windows?🔮
Although the new features are relatively minor, that doesn’t mean that Microsoft isn’t working on improving its flagship operating system. At the Build 2023 conference, the Redmond-based company announced three new features that should come in very handy on a day-to-day basis, including one that could change the way we use the system:
- Native support for RAR files in Windows, eliminating the need to use tools like WinRAR.
- The ability to force an application to close from the taskbar, rather than having to go through the task manager.
- Windows Copilot, a wizard similar to ChatGPT integrated directly into Windows.
Given that these features are still under development, we’ll have a chance to talk more about them once they’re available to the general public.
