In the battle for market share between browsers, very few succeed. That’s why they are multiplying their features to attract users. Opera goes one step further, unveiling a brand-new browser: Opera One.

Modular design and tab islands 🎛️

For its new browser, Opera has introduced a new design philosophy known as modular. Behind this expression lies the adaptation of the browser to the needs of the user, but also to future functionalities. Elements of the interface are readjusted according to context to offer smoother, more effortless navigation. For example, the extensions module can be reduced in the address bar, offering more space. Another example, which I’m sure you’ll use every day, is the tab islands.

If you’re accustomed to using browsers such as Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge, you’re probably familiar with the tab grouping feature. This feature allows you to group multiple tabs together to make space and better organize yourself when you have several tabs open. This feature takes things to the next level with Opera One, as the browser will automatically create groups of tabs from the same site, as you can see below.

ChatGPT joins Opera 🤖

Artificial Intelligence is the technology trend of the year. All players in the technology industry are trying to offer even one AI-related feature in their products. After Microsoft and Bing in Edge, it’s now the turn of Opera One and Aria. Like Bing, Opera’s Aria AI is based on ChatGPT. Opera announces that the information is up to date and that its AI is available free of charge in 180 countries.

Other useful features 😉

The old Opera browser was known for its integration with external applications such as messengers. Opera One retains this cherished feature by offering integration with Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram and many others directly in the browser. So you’ll no longer need to juggle tabs to chat with your loved ones.

In addition to messaging, a music player featuring streaming services such as Spotify and Apple Music is also available. The idea is that you don’t have to juggle between windows either, and can concentrate on your web browsing session.

Finally, a free VPN and ad blocker are available with the browser.

What do you think of this proposal for a new browser? Which browser do you use every day? Will you give Opera a try? Tell us in the comments.
