Google has just unveiled its new range of smartphones, with the Google Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro Fold. Let’s take a quick look at these new smartphones.

Google Pixel 9: The compact that’s rising in price 📱

The Google Pixel 9, despite its entry-level status, stands out with its compact format and revised design. Inspired by the iPhone and Galaxy S24, it adopts flatter edges. Google also announces durability that is « twice as long-lasting » as its predecessor, the Pixel 8.

In terms of photography, the Pixel 9 offers a dual-sensor system on the back. The main sensor is a 50-megapixel module with an f/1.68 aperture. It’s optimized to capture detailed images with excellent light management, even in low-light conditions. It’s accompanied by a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/1.7 aperture. This is ideal for landscape photos or shots where you want to include more of the scene in the frame. On the front, the Pixel 9 is equipped with a 10.5-megapixel sensor with autofocus, offering better sharpness for selfies.

As for the rest of the specs, this model is equipped with the Tensor G4 chip, paired with 12GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage. It also offers a 6.3-inch « Actua » OLED screen, capable of reaching a brightness of 2700 nits in full sunlight.

However, this upgrade comes at a cost: the Pixel 9 is launched at 899 euros. This is a significant increase compared to its predecessors. At least users will be able to keep it for a long time, thanks to 7 years of updates. It’s available in 4 colors: Peony Pink, Almond Green, Porcelain, and Volcanic Black.

Google Pixel 9 Pro: A new design and improved performance 🚀

The Pixel 9 Pro marks a turning point for Google with a completely redesigned, even more durable design. And for the first time, it’s available in two screen sizes: 6.34 inches and 6.73 inches for the XL model.

The Pixel 9 Pro’s camera remains one of its strong points, with a 50 MP main sensor, a 48 MP ultra-wide-angle, and a 48 MP telephoto lens offering 10x optical zoom.

This model features a Super Actua screen, a high-end OLED with an impressive maximum brightness of 3000 nits. As for the refresh rate, it varies between 1 and 120 Hz thanks to LTPO technology. Under the hood, we also find the Tensor G4 chip, this time supported by 16GB of RAM. It promises increased performance for applications and web browsing.

Finally, the price remains stable compared to the previous year, launching at 1,099 euros for the standard model and 1,199 euros for the XL model. Google emphasizes longevity, promising 7 years of updates for its new smartphones. It’s available in 3 colors: Rose Quartz, Sage Green, Porcelain, and Volcanic Black.

Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold: The foldable aiming for the high-end 📖

Lastly, the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold marks Google’s entry into the international foldable smartphone market. With a starting price of 1,899 euros, this model positions itself directly against Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold.

In terms of photography, although bearing the « Pro » name, the Pixel 9 Pro Fold makes some compromises compared to other models in the range. It has a triple rear camera, but with slightly downgraded specifications. The main sensor remains a 50-megapixel with an f/1.68 aperture, ensuring high-quality shots. The ultra-wide-angle sensor, also 48 megapixels, offers an f/1.7 aperture, similar to the Pixel 9. However, the telephoto lens, while present, is distinguished by an f/2.8 aperture and a limited optical zoom range compared to the classic 9 Pro model, offering 5x magnification instead of 10x. On the front, the Fold offers a 42-megapixel camera, ensuring detailed selfies and optimal video quality.

The foldable screen is the main argument for this new Pixel 9 Pro Fold. That’s why Google has gone all out for this new smartphone. It offers a unique experience thanks to its Super Actua Flex folding screen. It can reach 2700 nits in full sunlight and has a refresh rate ranging from 1 to 120 Hz. Incorporating the Tensor G4 chip, it also benefits from 7 years of updates like its counterparts.
