We’ve all been there: your phone lights up with endless pings from a group chat—especially when someone drops an « @everyone » mention. WhatsApp is finally preparing a fix: a new silent mode designed to mute those mass notifications without forcing you to leave the group.

A smarter way to handle « @everyone »🔕

Spotted by WABetaInfo, the latest beta (version 2.25.27.1) introduces a long-awaited feature: a silent mode for group chats that specifically blocks notifications triggered by « @everyone. » Unlike the standard mute option, this setting cuts through even the alerts that normally slip through when someone tags the entire group.

Turning it on is simple. In the group settings, you’ll find a new toggle called “Silent mode @everyone” just below the usual mute option. You can activate it for 8 hours, one week, or indefinitely—giving you complete control over whether you want to filter those notifications while still staying in the conversation.

Meeting a demand users have been making for years 🗨️

This move is WhatsApp’s answer to one of its most common complaints, borrowing inspiration from platforms like Slack and Discord. In the ever-busy world of group messaging—where social connection often collides with notification overload—the feature strikes a balance between staying engaged and protecting your digital peace of mind. The global rollout is expected by the end of 2025, so serenity is on the way.

Toward calmer, healthier group chats 🌱

With “Silent mode @everyone,” WhatsApp is setting the stage for a less stressful experience. Users will be able to stay in their groups, stay informed, and choose when they want to be interrupted. It’s a small but meaningful step toward healthier digital habits—one that other platforms might soon feel pressured to follow.

So, what about you? Do you embrace the chaos of constant notifications, or are you ready to switch your groups into “zen mode”? Have you seen the « @everyone » tag abused in your chats? Share your stories—we’d love to hear them.
