On January 21, 2025, Côte d’Ivoire celebrated the actors in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector. This event, organized by the Ministry of Digital Transition and Digitalization, was held at the premises of the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (ARTCI). The goal was to reward individuals and institutions that contributed to the development of postal and telecommunications services during 2023 and 2024.
Context and objectives of the ceremony 🌍
The 2025 edition of this ceremony focused on the role of private sector actors in digital transformation. Nine members of the Group of ICT Sector Operators (GOTIC) were honored by Minister Kalil Konaté. The distinctions, awarded in the ranks of Commander, Officer, and Knight, recognized the achievements of these players. Their efforts have been instrumental in boosting Côte d’Ivoire’s digital economy.
The GOTIC was created in 2009 and brings together more than 150 companies in the ICT sector. Under the leadership of Mr. Laurent Gnon, the organization’s president, the group aims to promote strategic partnerships. Additionally, it facilitates access to financing and markets. The organization also ensures the competitiveness of companies on both national and international levels. Furthermore, the GOTIC implements programs to enhance the technical and managerial capacities of businesses. In doing so, the organization seeks to align its member companies with international standards.
The ambition of the GOTIC 🚀
With this in mind, the organization is pursuing a strategic program to position the country as a digital leader in Africa by 2030. However, this ambition relies on dynamic and innovative member companies. These companies contribute to Côte d’Ivoire’s socio-economic development, and their success serves as a significant lever for the ICT sector.
Moreover, Minister Kalil Konaté emphasized the importance of these distinctions in celebrating private sector actors. The contributions of GOTIC members were particularly highlighted. They play a key role in supporting Côte d’Ivoire’s digital transformation. Additionally, the awarded distinctions encourage these actors to continue addressing digital challenges. Thus, they strengthen the public-private partnerships needed for digital sovereignty and innovation.
Notable figures honored 👏
Among the honored personalities was Mr. Laurent Gnon, president of the GOTIC and CEO of Sonec Africa, who was elevated to the rank of Commander.
This recognition reflects the success of GOTIC’s initiatives and its growth in the ICT sector in Côte d’Ivoire.
