Google has just unveiled the second generation of its high-end wireless earbuds, the Pixel Buds Pro 2. This new iteration brings significant improvements in performance, comfort, and battery life, positioning these earbuds as strong competitors against Apple’s AirPods Pro and Samsung’s Galaxy Buds Pro.

A Sleeker Design and Better Protection 😍

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 have been significantly lightened, going from 6.2 to 4.9 grams, which enhances their comfort and fit in the ear. While the overall design remains similar to the previous generation, the protection against water and dust has also been enhanced. The earbuds are now IP54 certified, compared to IPX4 before. As for the case, its certification has been upgraded to IPX4 from IPX2.

Improved Audio Performance 🔊

At the heart of these improvements is the new Tensor A1 chip, specifically designed by Google for these earbuds. This chip optimizes audio processing, providing smoother highs. The active noise cancellation (ANC) is now twice as effective on midrange frequencies. The Pixel Buds Pro 2 promise better sound isolation, including for higher-pitched sounds, which was a weakness in the previous generation.

Impressive Battery Life 🔋

One of the standout features of these new earbuds is undoubtedly their battery life. Google claims up to 8 hours of listening time with active noise cancellation. You can get up to 48 hours total with the charging case when ANC is turned off. This is a significant improvement compared to the first generation, which offered 7 hours and 31 hours of battery life, respectively.

Smart Features 🧠

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 come with several practical features, such as automatic activation of transparency mode during a conversation. The case also includes a small speaker that allows it to be located if lost. The earbuds also benefit from the latest Bluetooth 5.4 standard and are compatible with Bluetooth LE Audio for better energy efficiency.

The Pixel Buds Pro 2 are not the only products unveiled by Google at its annual conference. The Mountain View company also introduced a new lineup of Pixel 9 smartphones. Price and Availability 🤑

The Google Pixel Buds Pro 2 will be available for €249. This is a slight increase of €20 compared to the previous generation. The earbuds come in four colors: white, pink, pale green, and dark green. Pre-orders are open now, but you’ll have to wait until September 26th for the first deliveries and in-store availability.
