Côte d’Ivoire launches MaPoste, a national app for digital public services 📱🇨🇮

The Ivorian government has officially launched MaPoste, a new application designed to simplify access to public services for both citizens and businesses. Developed jointly by the National Office of Identification (ONECI) and La Poste de Côte d’Ivoire, the platform aims to modernize administrative procedures, cut down unnecessary travel, and secure exchanges between the state and its users.

With MaPoste, authorities are laying the groundwork for a faster, more transparent, and more citizen-centric public administration—one that relies on digital tools to bridge long-standing gaps between institutions and the people they serve.

A simpler, more accessible administration 🏛️📲

MaPoste is positioned as a single digital entry point to public services. The app allows users to interact with government institutions without having to physically visit administrative offices for every procedure. The goal is clear: reduce long queues, limit paperwork, and improve the overall experience of dealing with public services.

Speaking at the launch ceremony in Abidjan, Isaac Gnamba-Yao, CEO of La Poste de Côte d’Ivoire, emphasized the project’s strategic importance. According to him, MaPoste goes far beyond a standard mobile app. It represents a key building block in the country’s broader digital transformation strategy, supporting a public service that is more efficient, more environmentally friendly, and better protected against document fraud.

ONECI and La Poste: a strategic partnership at the core 🤝🆔

The rollout of MaPoste is built on close cooperation between two major institutions. On one side is ONECI, which manages the national population registry and the National Identification Number. On the other is La Poste de Côte d’Ivoire, whose extensive network of post offices covers the entire country.

ONECI provides the foundation for a secure and unique digital identity for each citizen. La Poste, meanwhile, plays a central operational role, leveraging its physical presence to anchor the digital solution in real-world infrastructure—even in areas with limited connectivity. Together, the two institutions aim to build the trust necessary for widespread adoption of the platform.

The digital postbox: a structural innovation 📬💻

The most transformative feature of MaPoste is the introduction of an official digital postbox. Starting in March 2026, every citizen and business will be assigned a unique digital address linked directly to their National Identification Number.

This digital postbox will become the official channel for receiving administrative mail and parcels. Users will receive in-app notifications whenever an item is sent to them, and they will be able to choose between collecting it at a post office or having it delivered to their home.

Access to the service will be offered through an annual subscription. Fees will remain affordable for individuals, while businesses will pay rates scaled to their size. Each digital address will also be linked to a physical location, strengthening system reliability and improving user identification.

Fighting fraud and structuring last-mile delivery 🔐🚚

Beyond convenience, MaPoste addresses several structural challenges. Côte d’Ivoire has long struggled with unreliable addressing systems and the secure circulation of official documents. The digital postbox provides a concrete response to these issues.

By enabling shipment tracking and courier identification, the system aims to reduce fraud and document loss. It also helps formalize the delivery sector, which is still largely dominated by informal operators. By bringing these activities into a regulated framework, the government hopes to improve working conditions for couriers while securing commercial and administrative exchanges.

The reform is also expected to accelerate the digitization of administrative procedures. Making the digital postbox mandatory gives the government a single, secure channel for communicating with citizens and businesses.

A gradual rollout ⏳📈

MaPoste is already available for download on the Play Store and the App Store. Authorities have planned a transition period to allow users time to familiarize themselves with the platform. Mandatory use of the digital postbox will take effect on March 1, 2026.

During this phase, awareness campaigns and user support initiatives will be rolled out to encourage adoption. The government is betting on a gradual ramp-up, with the ambition of making MaPoste a central pillar of the relationship between the state and the public.

With this launch, Côte d’Ivoire is reaffirming its commitment to digital transformation as a lever for administrative modernization—a technological and organizational bet that could fundamentally reshape how citizens access public services.
