WhatsApp now gives you the possibility to prevent messages from disappearing from a conversation. This also applies to conversations where ephemeral messages are enabled.

A new feature is coming to WhatsApp today. Yes, the messaging application of the Meta group describes this feature as a « new superpower » for users who will be able to prevent a message from disappearing from a conversation. Its particularity: It works on ephemeral messages.

If at first glance it may seem strange that WhatsApp allows you to keep a message in a conversation where they are automatically deleted after a certain period of time, there is a purpose behind it.

Indeed, it is possible that in one of your conversations with ephemeral messages you want to keep a voice or text message because it contains important information that you will need later, or for any other reason of course.

To keep a message in a conversation, simply long-press it and click on the bookmark icon. The message will then be visible to all participants and will not disappear even if the ephemeral messages option is activated. They will be classified by discussion in the Saved Messages folder in order to find them quickly.

However, WhatsApp clarifies in its blog post that if someone tries to keep a message you have sent, you will have the option to object to it. Also, if you decide to stop saving a message, no one will be able to save it again.

This new feature allows you to further customize your experience on WhatsApp and control the privacy of your messages. WhatsApp says Kept Messages are available today on iOS and Android. The feature will be rolled out globally over the next few weeks. To take advantage of it, simply update your app on the Play Store (Android) or App Store (iOS).
