At the NAB Show 2023 (National Association of Broadcasters), the video industry’s big event, Adobe presented new features for its flagship products, including After Effects and especially Premiere Pro. Thanks to the « in-house » artificial intelligence Adobe Sensei, Adobe wants to revolutionize video editing.
Adobe Premiere Pro: When AI and video editing work together 🎥🤖
At the NAB Show 2023, an event for the broadcast, media and entertainment industries in Las Vegas, Adobe announced a major innovation for its editing software, Premiere Pro: editing from text.
This feature relies on Adobe Sensei, Adobe’s AI, to automatically analyze and transcribe video footage into text. Once the script is generated, you can simply create your cuts and edit the edit by copying and pasting parts of the text that will then appear in video format in the timeline.
A search option within the transcription window will also make it easy to identify words and phrases.
In practice, the software will be able to easily associate words with video sequences and thus move said sequences according to the location of the words in the script.
It should allow people who are not familiar with the classic editing tools to rearrange the sequences in a few moments. Moreover, this technique should save precious time to prepare a more precise editing, this time done by hand. You know what we are talking about dear editors😉.
Adobe announces more new features🤩
The introduction of text-based video editing is not the only new feature announced by Adobe. In fact, an automatic tone mapping feature will allow editors to match the colors and contrast of footage from different cameras. Adobe adds that its new version of Premiere Pro will be « faster, more stable » to make the « editing experience faster and more responsive. » Other announced features include.:
- Support for frame.io,
- Improved collaboration options, with sequence lock, presence indicators, offline editing,
- Improved support for ARRI RAW, RED RAW and Sony Venice v2.
« These technological advancements allow you to focus on creation and eliminate tedious tasks, » said Ashley Still, vice president at Adobe.
When will these new features be available ?🤔
This latest version of Adobe Premiere Pro, including the beta of text-based editing and automatic tone mapping, will be available in May 2023.
