According to TechCrunch, one user created a receipt from scratch, while another tweaked it to add imperfections, making it even more believable. It doesn’t stop at creating documents from scratch. Some users are also modifying existing receipts with ChatGPT’s help. Raphaël Chenol, Director of Digital Learning at Ynov Campus, shared on LinkedIn how he changed the date on a receipt from December 2, 2024, to March 27, 2025. Even more concerning: his expense management app didn’t flag the forgery—it passed the check without issue.​
