Numerous hints emerging week after week suggest that WhatsApp is currently working on the ability to edit previously sent messages. The Android and iOS beta versions give a taste of this feature.

This information comes from the famous site WABetaInfo, which daily digs up new features brought to WhatsApp beta versions. After WhatsApp Web, it is now WhatsApp beta for Android via version 2.23.10.13 and WhatsApp beta for iOS via version 23.10.0.70 that benefit from this feature, but only for some testers.

In these versions, a new option called « Edit » appears among all the available options when selecting a message. According to the first tests, there is no limit to the number of messages that can be modified, but it must be done within 15 minutes of sending the message. When a message is edited, the recipient will see « Edited » in the message bubble.

This feature is still under development and has some limitations. One of them is the inability to edit a message sent from another device. For example, if you send a message from your computer, you will not be able to edit it from your smartphone. In addition, it is not possible to edit messages other than text.
