After months of beta testing, WhatsApp has officially announced a new feature that should prove extremely useful for its users: screen sharing during video calls.
No more need to use Zoom or Google Meet to share your screen🖥️
When we think of screen sharing during a video call, we tend to think of tools for professional use such as Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams. On the consumer messaging front, after Telegram, it’s WhatsApp’s turn to get this feature.
As WhatsApp is the communication tool of choice for many users, this feature should prove very useful for sharing documents, viewing photos, making online purchases and, above all, assisting parents and grandparents with technical questions.
Sharing your screen is very simple. Once you’re connected to a video call, all you have to do is press a new ‘Share’ button at the bottom left of the screen.
Next, you’ll have the option of sharing either your entire screen, or a specific application if you’re calling from a computer.
WhatsApp has also taken the opportunity to add a landscape mode interface for video calls on iOS and Android. This new feature is currently being rolled out on Android, iOS and Windows.
