Liking a status or blocking the capture of a profile photo, the new WhatsApp updates offer more privacy to its users. Conversations are now more fun and creative.

Statistics beyond expectations👌🏾

When it comes to choosing between WhatsApp and SMS, the messaging app wins by a landslide with 92.5% preference, according to the report on e-commerce in CEEAC (Cameroon, Central African Republic, Congo, Gabon, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, São Tomé, DR Congo, Rwanda, Burundi, Angola). Similarly, for voice communication, 60% of people prefer WhatsApp calls over traditional phone calls. However, some users felt insecure using the app, fearing hacking or cloning, and remained hesitant.

Considerable changes ☺️

WhatsApp’s evolving updates have made some users embrace the app and its features. « I used to lose my account easily. This prevented me from fully expressing myself in conversations or sharing information freely. I always wondered if I was being spied on. Now, I can send voice messages with a one-time view, and my profile photo can’t be captured and shared anymore. I feel like the app improves with every update, and that’s reassuring, » says Anne Meleme.

WhatsApp: part of everyday life🫂

The app has become essential. Of those surveyed, more than half (47.5%) say they couldn’t go a day without using WhatsApp. Many have made purchases via the app, while others have contacted a company’s after-sales service through it. WhatsApp has also created channels, which many use to stay informed. « I’m a sports fan, and I love that the app now provides real-time updates on our different clubs. I no longer need to search engines for info about my favorite teams. I can just search within WhatsApp and find their channel. I’m excited to see what the next updates will bring, » says Joakim Mballa.

Bugs still persist 😨

No app is perfect, and disruptions remain. For instance, voice notes often get distorted, and the app sometimes crashes. These bugs are minor for users, who hope that future updates will fix these issues.
