Telegram’s latest update brings significant improvements to video management with optimized loading and new playback controls. New features also simplify message management, while monetization options open up for bot developers. These additions aim to refine user experience and support developers’ creativity on the platform.

Faster, higher-quality video playback 🎬

With this update, videos posted in large Telegram channels are now automatically optimized. Depending on each user’s connection speed, the video player automatically adjusts the video quality to speed up loading and reduce data consumption.

For instance, a user with a slow connection will be offered a lower-quality video, while a fast connection will load the video in high definition. Content creators no longer need to pre-process their videos. Telegram handles compression and adaptation.

iOS users benefit from an easier transition to picture-in-picture mode. Simply swipe the video upward to keep watching it while navigating other chats. This new configuration provides a smoother experience for mobile users, allowing them to multitask without interrupting video playback.

Smooth playback speed control ⚡

Telegram introduces quick gestures to adjust playback speed without entering the settings. Now, by holding down on the right side of the video, playback speed instantly increases to 2x, while sliding to the right gradually boosts the speed up to 2.5x. To return to normal speed, simply release the finger. These adjustments are designed to make it easier to quickly consume content, especially for users who want to skip through certain parts.

On Android, Telegram has also added the ability to jump forward or backward by 10 seconds by double-tapping the sides of the video. This allows for more precise navigation in videos, making this feature particularly useful for long videos or educational content.

Adding media after sending messages📎

Adding media to sent messages is a major advancement for Telegram users. If a user forgets to attach a file or an image before sending a message, they can now do so without having to delete and resend the message. By editing the message, they can not only add media but also replace any mistakenly sent files. This feature is especially useful for professional groups and channels where sending complete information is crucial.

Additionally, each edited message now displays the time of the last edit, enabling other users to easily track updates. This transparency is helpful in professional discussions where information may be updated regularly.

Targeted searches using hashtags🔍

Telegram has implemented a system for group and public channel-specific hashtags. Using the format #hashtag@username, users can now view only posts and stories from the associated group or channel.

For example, selecting #travel@durov will show only messages from @durov containing the hashtag #travel. This feature is ideal for niche groups or channels that want to keep their internal discussions organized and easy to retrieve.

In public chats, a contextual menu also allows users to directly select a hashtag and associate it with a username, simplifying personalized hashtags and targeted searches.

Monetizing bots and Telegram ads💰

Bots and mini-apps can now integrate Telegram ads, allowing developers to generate income by sharing 50% of the ad revenue. This monetization is discreet and respects user privacy. Telegram emphasizes that this strategy maintains a pleasant user experience while supporting the development of new services.

This monetization system is intended to encourage developers to create more sophisticated bots that cater to users’ varied needs and to support their growth. The revenue generated can be reinvested into feature enhancements, attracting a larger community to the platform.

A solution to bot limits🚀

To meet the needs of widely used bots, Telegram has introduced the option to increase the message sending limit per second. While all bots can already send up to 30 messages per second for free, they can now unlock a limit of 1,000 messages per second. This increase is paid, costing 0.1 star per additional message. Developers can accumulate these stars through paid content and digital products sold within their bots, offering greater flexibility for highly active services.

Ability to measure engagement accurately 📊

Telegram introduces a feature that allows users to see the exact count of each type of reaction (heart, star, pumpkin, etc.) on their posts. By holding down on the reaction counter, details are displayed, showing how many of each reaction were given. This feature is particularly useful for channel managers, who can now better understand audience engagement and tailor their content based on subscriber preferences.

With this update, Telegram continues to innovate with features focused on content management optimization, a smoother user experience, and growth in its developer ecosystem. These improvements highlight the platform’s commitment to meeting user expectations while opening new opportunities for content creators and bot developers.
