WhatsApp is testing a major update on iOS that will finally let users run two accounts from the same app. Whether you’re juggling work and personal chats or just want cleaner boundaries, the new beta brings the kind of flexibility Instagram and Facebook already nailed years ago.
Multiple accounts: no more workarounds 🔄
Until now, running two WhatsApp accounts on an iPhone meant relying on WhatsApp Business or carrying a second device. The latest beta, discovered by WABetaInfo, adds a new “Account List” section in settings, making the process dramatically simpler. You can add a second profile, link it via QR code, or import an existing Business account. Each profile keeps its own chat history, notifications, and settings, giving you a clean, intuitive split.
Adding a second account takes just a few taps—whether it’s a different phone number or an already-linked profile. WhatsApp also includes quick-switch shortcuts so you can jump between accounts instantly, without logging out or relaunching the app. Messages from an inactive account are clearly labeled, so nothing gets lost in the shuffle.
Security and customization stay rock-solid 🔒
Each account remains fully independent when it comes to backups, media, privacy, and notifications. If an account is protected by Face ID, switching over requires the right authentication. Passkeys streamline account management even further, and every profile keeps its own preferences with zero overlap.
A real game changer for work and personal life 🎯
Native multi-account support is a big win for freelancers, business owners, and anyone who wants cleaner separation between personal and professional communication. For now, WhatsApp limits the feature to two accounts, but the setup hints that broader support may come later.
With this move, WhatsApp finally catches up to competitors like Instagram and significantly boosts productivity and convenience on iPhone. The feature is still in testing, but its design—and early impressions—suggest a wider rollout is likely soon. The only question left is timing.
How would you use multi-account support on WhatsApp? Keep work and personal life separate—or something else entirely? Drop your thoughts in the comments!
