Gmail unveils a new way to reply to emails on Android 📩

Gmail continues to reinvent itself with the introduction of a new feature on its Android application. Google now offers a faster and more intuitive method for responding to emails. It thus provides users with an improved experience that simplifies their daily message management.

A redesigned interface for greater efficiency 📝

One of the main innovations of this update is the appearance of a redesigned reply window. When a user wants to reply to or forward a message, they are no longer redirected to a new full page as before. Now, a compact window appears at the bottom of the conversation, allowing you to reply directly while keeping the original message visible above. This new feature greatly facilitates referencing the content of the message you’re responding to. It thus makes the process more fluid and efficient, especially for short replies.

For those who prefer the old layout offering more width space, don’t worry! It’s still possible to expand the window by clicking on the dedicated icon in the top right corner.

Google emphasizes that this new interface is particularly suitable for short and quick responses. For messages requiring a longer or more formal response, you can simply expand the text box to access more formatting options.

A gradual rollout 🚂

This new feature is already available for individual Android users. For Workspace subscribers, the deployment is being done progressively over a 15-day period, having started on August 26, 2024. iOS users will have to wait a bit longer, as Google has announced that the update will be available « later this year » for Apple devices.
