First Look at Apple’s New Emojis ! 👀

Apple has just unveiled a preview of the new emojis arriving with iOS 18.4. If you love adding expressive icons to your messages, get ready for some interesting new options! Nine emojis are making their way into the second beta of this update, bringing both practical and surprising additions.

Tired eyes and unusual objects😴

Among the highlights, the « face with bags under eyes » emoji (🪩) is bound to become a favorite for expressing exhaustion after a long night. This emoji has been under discussion since 2018 and is finally making its way to our keyboards.

Other new icons includ :

• A fingerprint
• A splatter
• A root vegetable
• A leafless tree
• A harp
• A shovel
• The flag of Sark (🇨🇶), a British island in the English Channel.

Some of these are quite specific, but they offer new ways to express ideas. Whether talking about music with the harp or illustrating chores with the shovel, there’s something for everyone.

Availability and ongoing changes 📅

These new emojis are part of the iOS 18.4 beta 2, currently available to developers. However, they are not yet categorized within Apple’s emoji keyboard. To use them, you’ll need to search for them (for instance, typing « bags » will bring up the tired face emoji).

Another notable change: the Syrian flag emoji has been updated to reflect the flag used by the population following the fall of Bashar al-Assad’s regime. It now features a green stripe and three red stars instead of the previous red stripe with two green stars.

The official release of iOS 18.4 is expected in spring 2025, likely between late March and early April. Until then, these designs may still evolve.

With these new emojis, Apple continues to enhance digital communication. While some may seem minor, others, like the tired face emoji, are likely to become daily essentials. It will be interesting to see which ones become user favorites!
