What subscription options are on the table? 💸

Like Apple’s iCloud or Google Photos, Snapchat is moving to a tiered storage model. Here’s what the plans look like:

• 100GB for around €2/month.
• 250GB, bundled with Snapchat+ at €4/month.
• 5TB, available with Snapchat Platinum (not yet rolled out everywhere).

For most casual users, the free 5GB will be more than enough. But if you’re a power user—or someone who documents literally everything—your choices are clear: pay up, or start cleaning house.

Don’t panic: there’s a grace period 🕒

To ease the transition, Snapchat is giving anyone over the new 5GB limit 12 months of temporary storage. During that time, you can either back up your Memories locally, subscribe, or trim down your library. After the grace period ends, anything over the cap will be automatically deleted—starting with your newest Snaps, while older ones will remain intact.

At its core, this is about cost and revenue. Storing trillions of photos and videos isn’t cheap, and Snapchat has been gradually exploring ways to monetize beyond ads—think premium filters, Lens+, and now storage.
