Gabon is moving to fully digitize its e-Visa system, with online payments set to roll out before the end of 2025. The upgrade will finally offer travelers a seamless, end-to-end digital journey — from submitting the application to stepping into the country.
A new milestone in visa digitization 🚀
After testing a temporary free tourist visa from July 15 to September 15, 2025, Gabon is now shifting its focus to improving the standard e-Visa platform.
The official portal, evisa.dgdi.ga, already lets travelers submit applications online by uploading their passport information page and a recent photo. Once validated, applicants receive an entry authorization that they present on arrival at Libreville’s Léon-Mba International Airport.
What still slows things down is the payment step, which currently has to be completed in cash on arrival — a process that’s cumbersome, slow, and outdated. The upcoming digital payment system is designed to remove this bottleneck entirely.

Digital payments are finally coming 💻💵
Right now, the workflow is only halfway digital:
you can apply online, but you still have to pay in person, in cash — €70 for a 1–3 month visa or €185 for a 6-month multiple-entry visa. That’s the part that’s about to change.
Following a meeting on November 21, 2025, with key electronic payment stakeholders, the government confirmed it is working to integrate online payments directly into the e-Visa portal, in partnership with MaDigiPaie.
The goal is to launch the feature in December 2025. Once live, travelers will be able to pay before departure and complete the entire process online.
Digital sovereignty takes center stage 🛡️🇬🇦
This update brings Gabon closer to international standards for traveler experience. Integrating online payments will:
- reduce airport wait times,
- minimize handling of foreign currency,
- speed up processing at arrival,
- strengthen transaction security.
During the November meeting, officials also discussed progress on the national digital ID initiative and the broader effort to prioritize local solutions within public digital services. These reforms are part of Gabon’s push to modernize public administration, enhance technological sovereignty, and build a stronger digital ecosystem.
