Samsung Galaxy A57 & A37: Mid-range gets smarter, sharper—but pricier 📱

Samsung isn’t going for a dramatic breakthrough here. With the Galaxy A57 and A37, the brand continues to rely on its well-oiled formula: take what already works, refine it with small touches, and wrap it all in a more polished design with a few timely features. Both models share a very similar foundation, but Samsung has carefully introduced differences where it truly matters.

This approach says a lot about the company’s strategy: reassure mid-range buyers while maintaining a clear gap with the Galaxy S lineup. In short, Samsung isn’t trying to reinvent the segment—it’s aiming to lock it down with devices that are more complete, more durable, and more “intelligent.”

A very similar duo, but not twins ⚡

At first glance, the Galaxy A57 and A37 share the same design language: a 6.7-inch display, slimmer bezels, a 120Hz Super AMOLED panel, and peak brightness rated at 1900 nits. Both models also feature Gorilla Glass Victus+ and IP68 certification—a significant step forward in durability for this price range.

But Samsung keeps a clear distinction between the two. The Galaxy A57 leans into a more premium build, reportedly with a metal frame, while the Galaxy A37 stays more conservative with a plastic chassis. This isn’t just about looks: the brand reserves the more premium feel for the higher-end model, without stripping the A37 of the essentials.

AI moves down the lineup 💡

One of the biggest shifts in this generation is the broader integration of AI into everyday use. Samsung is pushing its “Awesome Intelligence” ecosystem, with features like voice transcription, easier access to AI Select, and faster editing and selection tools. On the Galaxy A57, audio-to-text transcription takes on particular importance, offering practical value for meetings, note-taking, or field recordings.

Samsung makes a smart move here: instead of selling distant, futuristic AI, it grounds these features in real, understandable use cases. This gives meaning to the upgrade while helping justify—at least partially—the price increase.

Camera and battery: Pragmatism first 📸

On the camera side, both models rely on a 50MP main sensor, paired with an ultra-wide lens and a macro sensor, alongside improved software processing and image optimization. The Galaxy A57 pushes things further, with better noise management, sharper detail, and more responsive focusing—especially in low light. Samsung also highlights improvements in video capture and its Nightography capabilities.

Battery capacity remains at 5000mAh on both devices, with 45W fast charging. It’s a solid foundation, but not particularly groundbreaking given the price increases. These are clearly phones designed to last through a full day without stress, rather than to break endurance or charging speed records.

More noticeable performance gains—especially on the A57 🚀

The Galaxy A57 is powered by an Exynos 1680 chip, while the Galaxy A37 settles for an Exynos 1480. On paper, the difference is significant, particularly in graphics performance, onboard AI processing, and long-term smoothness. Samsung seems to position the A57 as the more robust mid-range option, while the A37 focuses on affordability.

Both devices run Android 16 with One UI 8.5, and Samsung promises six years of system and security updates. That’s a strong argument in today’s market, where software longevity has become almost as important as raw specs.

Pricing and availability 🌍

This is likely the most debated aspect. In France, the Galaxy A37 starts at €449 (approx. 294,525 FCFA), while the Galaxy A57 begins at €549 (approx. 360,120 FCFA). Higher-end variants go up to €529 (347,001 FCFA) for the A37, €599 (392,918 FCFA) for the A57, and even €799 (524,109 FCFA) for the 512GB version of the A57, according to early pricing reports.

The Galaxy A37 comes in Lavender, Dark Green, Graphite, and White.

Meanwhile, the Galaxy A57 is available in Blue, Gray, Light Blue, and Lavender.

These color options may vary depending on markets and retailers, but the overall palette stays true to Samsung’s approach: understated tones, a few softer options, and a clear mass-market positioning.

Availability is set for April 10, 2026, in France, with pre-orders already open at select retailers. Samsung is stepping into a delicate space: specs are improving, but prices are climbing enough to make long-time A-series buyers pause.

An upgrade that comes at a price 🌙

At its core, Samsung isn’t introducing a revolution here—it’s reinforcing its foundation. The Galaxy A57 and A37 improve durability, photography, AI, and software support, while maintaining a formula that’s easy to understand and recommend.

The challenge is that this strategy comes with inflation that slightly blurs the original promise of Samsung’s mid-range lineup.

The result is more nuanced than it seems: these are good smartphones—likely very reliable for mainstream users—but they’ll need to prove that their upgrades truly justify the price gap compared to previous generations. Samsung has refined its recipe; now it remains to be seen whether users are willing to pay more for that refinement.

💬 And you?
Do the Galaxy A57 and A37 feel convincing enough to justify their higher price tags?
