Nigeria launches a single portal for public services 🌐🇳🇬

Nigeria is stepping up the digital overhaul of its administration with the launch of services.gov.ng. The platform brings several public services together in one place. The goal is to let citizens, entrepreneurs and businesses handle their paperwork from a single portal, without having to juggle multiple administrative platforms or rely on middlemen.

A single digital gateway for users 💻

Galaxy Backbone, Nigeria’s state-owned digital infrastructure operator, officially launched the portal on July 28, 2026, at a soft launch. Developed in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy and with technical support from KOICA, South Korea’s development agency, the platform brings together several services. These were previously scattered across different agency websites and physical offices.

Users can now access services related to business registration, trade permits and identity verification. There are also regulatory licensing services, along with various empowerment programs and civic initiatives. So instead of searching separately for services offered by each agency, users get a single centralized digital access point.

Easier administrative processes 📲

With this new platform, the government’s main aim is to simplify interactions between the administration and citizens. Entrepreneurs and businesses can submit applications online, verify certain official information and browse opportunities offered by public authorities. Citizens, for their part, also get more direct access to the various initiatives and services available. As a result, this centralization is meant to cut down on the need to navigate between multiple platforms or go through intermediaries to complete certain procedures.

Beyond simplifying procedures, services.gov.ng is also meant to help improve administrative efficiency. By bringing several services together on one official platform, the government aims to reduce duplication, cut down on certain delays and make public services easier to access. Centralization is also meant to strengthen user security.

Indeed, having an official, verified portal can help citizens and businesses tell real government services apart from fraudulent sites and online scams. The goal, then, is to offer a trusted digital channel for accessing public services, while reducing the risks tied to unofficial platforms.

A new step in the state’s digital transformation 🚀

The launch of services.gov.ng is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda. This policy places significant emphasis on digital transformation, institutional transparency and improving public-sector efficiency.

Through this platform, Nigeria is furthering its ambition to build a more digitized, more accessible administration. By bringing all these services together, the government intends to gradually make digital technology a central point of contact between the administration and its users.
