Morocco’s Ministry of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform has announced a new version of Idarati, the country’s national portal for administrative procedures and public services. The update is part of the digital transformation of Moroccan public administration and aims to put citizens and businesses at the center of government services.
A portal built around users 🏛️
The ministry presents this new generation of Idarati as consistent with King Mohammed VI’s vision of placing the user at the heart of public action. The stated goal is a more accessible administration and steadily better public services.
In practice, the portal is meant to become smoother and easier to use over time. The ambition is that users can reach public services at any time, from anywhere, on any type of device.
The update also reflects a shift toward an administration that starts from the user’s needs. The portal is supposed to take better account of what citizens and businesses are trying to do, and to steer them toward the right service.
874 online services, all in one place 🌐
At the center of the new version is Idarati e-Services, a single access point for the digital services offered by government agencies and public institutions. The ministry says it is continuously consolidating, updating and verifying the underlying reference database, working with the administrations and institutions involved, to keep the information reliable.
According to the ministry, the portal now gives access to 874 online services and 2,533 published administrative acts. These are organized around priority journeys built from user needs. Idarati is moving, step by step, from a collection of separate administrative services toward an approach built around citizens’ journeys and life events.
Users can now weigh in 💬
The new version adds a feature called « Donner mon avis » (« Give my opinion »). It lets citizens and businesses share their experience with public services available online.
The feedback is meant to feed a continuous cycle of listening and improvement, so services can gradually be adjusted to how people actually use them and what they expect.
Digital accessibility is also a stated priority of the overhaul. Navigation, search and the organization of content have been redesigned to make the portal easier for everyone to use, with particular attention to people with disabilities.
An AI marketplace for public services 🤖
Idarati now also includes a marketplace of artificial intelligence solutions. It is supposed to provide tools described as useful, secure and trustworthy for citizens, businesses and administrations.
Over time, these tools are meant to help guide users and process administrative information, and to support public servants in their work. AI thus becomes one of the building blocks of the portal’s transformation, alongside accessibility, service centralization and the gradual use of data.
What comes next: Idarati X.0 🚀
The relaunch also lays the groundwork for the next stage, called Idarati X.0. It is meant to become a single entry point to government, connected to the national digital wallet, digital identity, interoperability (the ability of different administrations’ systems to exchange data) and the « once-only » principle. Under that principle, people should not have to submit the same information more than once if the administration already holds it.
Eventually, these foundations are supposed to enable more personalized and proactive services. Within a secure framework that respects users’ rights, the administration could, for example, anticipate certain needs, flag a deadline, suggest an entitlement, or route users to the right service automatically.
A promise that still needs proving 💡
With this release, Idarati continues its shift from a simple information portal to a real interface between users and the administration. Morocco says it aims to build, step by step, public services that are available anywhere, anytime, and simpler and better suited to citizens and businesses. What remains to be seen is what these promises change in practice for people using the portal. That is where the project will be judged.
