Samsung, the market leader in foldable smartphones, has unveiled new versions of its Z range. While the Z Fold 5 offers minor improvements over the version released last year, the Z Flip 5 undergoes drastic changes.

The external screen of the Z Flip 5 becomes even bigger and more practical🤩

Samsung’s Z Flip range is the most popular with users. Its ability to fold in half to become more compact makes it a pleasant smartphone to use. Despite this, one of its negative points has always been its small external screen. After Oppo and Motorola, Samsung has finally decided to enlarge its external screen to make it more practical.

The new external screen now measures 3.4 inches, almost 3 times larger than that of the Z Flip 5. It now allows you to do more with the smartphone closed, such as reply to messages or navigate using Google Maps. The widgets are also larger and more practical. There’s also a multitasking system to make it easier to navigate between widgets and applications.

The new external screen is infinitely customisable to suit your tastes, much like the classic lock screen.

Finally, there’s an important detail that should improve the durability of this smartphone: thanks to a new hinge, it can now be closed without leaving any gaps. It is still water and dust resistant.

As for the rest, there are no major changes, and we find the classic improvements from one generation to the next, with a better processor that should increase performance, autonomy and the quality of photos and videos.
It is now available for pre-order from £1199, in 8 colours, including 4 exclusive to the Samsung website.

The Z Fold 5 is still built for productivity 🖋️

The Z Fold 5 changes very little from the previous generation. It’s fair to say that Samsung has made adjustments here and there to improve on last year’s product.
The first adjustment is to the hinge. Like the Z Flip 5, the Z Fold 5 has a new hinge that allows for a gap-free closure, but as an added bonus allows the smartphone to be thinner and lighter than last year. It is still water and dust resistant.

Like its predecessor, the Z Fold 5 is compatible with the S Pen. This year’s Pen is thinner and now integrated into a compact shell. But that’s not the only thing this smartphone can do to help you be more productive. On the software side, you can now add more applications to the taskbar. It’s also possible to copy and paste with 2 fingers, using one finger to select an item to copy and the other to navigate the interface.

As for the other incremental improvements, the screen is brighter and more resistant, while the new processor should offer a boost in performance, but also in autonomy and photo capacity. Above all, the photo sensors remain unchanged from last year: 50MP wide-angle sensor, 10MP telephoto lens with x3 optical zoom, 12MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, 10MP external selfie sensor and 4MP under-screen selfie sensor.
The Z Fold 5 is now available for pre-order from £1,899 and comes in 5 colours, including 2 exclusive to the Samsung website.
