Samsung unveils new earbuds with surprising design 🎧

On the afternoon of July 10th, Samsung held its summer Unpacked conference. During this event, Samsung unveiled numerous products including new earbuds. And the least we can say is that their design is surprising.

It’s the end of the beans for Galaxy Buds 🫘

The Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro mark a significant break from previous models. Gone is the compact bean-shaped design, replaced by earbuds with visible stems. According to Samsung, this design is inspired by the brand’s latest foldable smartphones. But you’d have to be blind not to see the resemblance to Apple’s AirPods, especially with the white color.

However, this aesthetic evolution is not just a matter of style. The new stems allow for improved touch controls, particularly for volume management, and bring the microphones closer to the mouth for better call quality. The Buds 3 Pro are distinguished by the addition of an LED strip on the stem, useful for pairing or locating the earbuds.

Samsung has also paid particular attention to comfort of use. The Galaxy Buds 3 Pro have an IP57 certification, making them resistant to dust and water, ideal for sports or outdoor use. The companion app includes a fit test function to ensure optimal positioning of the earbuds in the ears, thus improving the listening experience.

Improved audio performance 🔊

On the sound front, Samsung has pulled out all the stops. Both models now incorporate two-way speakers, promising better frequency management. The Buds 3 Pro go further with two amplifiers and support for 24-bit/96 kHz high-fidelity audio. Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) has also been improved. It achieves noise reduction of up to 33 dB, compared to 29 dB for the previous model. The companion app offers a multitude of features, such as multipoint connection and a 9-band equalizer for precise sound control.

AI at the heart of the experience ✨

The major innovation lies in the integration of AI-based features. Compatible with Galaxy AI, the new Buds offer real-time translation (with a compatible Samsung smartphone). AI is also used to optimize audio rendering based on the positioning of the earbuds and intelligently adjust ANC according to the environment. An improvement in phone call clarity by reducing ambient noise is also available.

Availability and Price 🤑

Galaxy Buds 3 and Buds 3 Pro will be available from July 24th, priced at €179 and €249 respectively, in white or silver colors.

Although these new earbuds mark an aesthetic break from previous generations, Samsung seems to have focused on technological innovation and deep integration with its ecosystem to stand out in a highly competitive market. It remains to be seen whether these choices will appeal to consumers beyond Samsung smartphone users.
