Apple unveiled its latest generation of smartwatches during its annual keynote. The star of the event is undoubtedly the Apple Watch Series 10, celebrating 10 years of the lineup with a revamped design and innovative features. Meanwhile, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 receives a more subtle update.

Apple Watch Series 10: A « New » design for the 10th anniversary 1️⃣0️⃣

The Apple Watch Series 10 stands out with its « new design. » While visually similar to the previous version, it is thinner than ever. At just 9.6 mm thick (compared to 10.7 mm for the Series 9), it is the slimmest Apple Watch ever made. This achievement was made possible through the miniaturization of many components. For example, the speaker is now 30% smaller.

The watch’s dimensions have also evolved, going from 41 and 45 mm to 42 and 46 mm. This increase is accompanied by a larger OLED screen, offering a 30% larger display area than the Apple Watch Series 6. This new screen promises better readability, even at a low viewing angle. It also allows for displaying more information or increasing the font size without sacrificing content.

Apple has decided to replace the stainless steel versions with titanium models. This new material, lighter than steel and more durable than aluminum, reduces the watch’s weight by 20%.

New Health and Sport Features 👩🏾‍⚕️

The big novelty of this Series 10 is sleep apnea detection. Thanks to algorithms analyzing heart rate, respiratory rate, and wrist temperature, the watch can detect signs of this often undiagnosed sleep disorder. This feature will also be available on the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 once health authorities’ approvals are obtained.

For aquatic activities, the Apple Watch Series 10 can now measure water temperature during swimming sessions. The depth measurement has also been optimized.

Additionally, the Series 10 is equipped with the new Apple S10 chip, offering improved performance and better energy management. The watch supports fast charging, reaching 80% battery in just 30 minutes, and promises up to 18 hours of daily use.

Apple Watch Ultra 2: A Sleek New Color⚫

While the Apple Watch Ultra 2 didn’t receive major technical updates, Apple introduced a highly anticipated new color: an elegant black finish. This model retains all the technical features of its predecessor but offers a more discreet option for users seeking a refined look.

Pricing and Availability 💰

The Apple Watch Series 10 is now available for pre-order and will be on sale starting September 20, 2024. Prices vary depending on the model and finish. The GPS version starts at €449, and the cellular version starts at €569. You can choose from three colors: silver, rose gold, and jet black.
