Chad equips its national police with new tech to fight cybercrime 👮🏽‍♂️🇹🇩

Chad’s national police just got a major digital upgrade. On July 20, 2026, the country’s tech development agency, ADETIC, officially handed over a large batch of digital equipment to the national police — part of a broader push to modernize how officers work and improve the services citizens receive.

Kitting out the police 🖥️

The donation includes 74 desktop computers, 59 laptops, and 105 surveillance cameras, along with IP communication gear. There are also printers, scanners, and photocopiers, plus videoconferencing and sound equipment. The package also covers everything needed to bring the national police’s public hotline back online.

With this new gear, police units should be better equipped to handle intelligence work, investigations, and operational coordination — along with faster processing of information and case management.

Digital tools for public safety 📡

Beyond simply replacing old equipment, the donation is part of Chad’s broader digital transformation strategy. IP communication systems, videoconferencing, and surveillance tools are meant to smooth communication between departments and make coordinating operations easier.

Restoring the national police’s public hotline is also intended to improve how officers interact with citizens. The new IT equipment, meanwhile, is expected to speed up casework and modernize administrative procedures.

Tackling new security challenges 🔐

Receiving the equipment on behalf of the force, national police director-general, Controller General Tougoud Digo Maïdé, welcomed the initiative, saying it would strengthen his institution’s operational capacity and that the equipment would reportedly be used professionally to respond more effectively to security challenges.

ADETIC director-general Adoum Djimet Saboun, for his part, said the donation reflects the government’s ambition to make technology a strategic lever for modernizing public administration and strengthening national security.

Minister of Public Security and Immigration Ali Ahmat Aghabache said the new equipment would reportedly help the national police better tackle threats linked to cybercrime, terrorism, and emerging forms of crime.

Modernizing the state through technology 🚀

Closing out the ceremony, Secretary of State Abel Maïna reaffirmed that digital transformation is a pillar of state modernization. In his view, strengthening the technological capacity of public institutions remains essential to improving their efficiency and the quality of services delivered to the population.

Through this latest donation, ADETIC continues to support the digitalization of Chad’s public administration, aiming to help build institutions that are more modern, better equipped, and better prepared to handle the country’s security and digital challenges.
