In an unprecedented effort to boost the digitalization of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Togo, the Togo Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI-Togo) recently launched an ambitious initiative. Supported by the ProDigiT program in partnership with German Cooperation (GIZ), this project aims to deploy 50 specialized consultants to assist 150 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs/SMEs) in their digital transformation. This program is part of a strategic response to current economic challenges and the increasing demands of the market.
An evolving economic context 🌍
Digitalization has become an essential lever for SMEs worldwide. It allows them to modernize their management methods, optimize operational processes, and access new markets through digital marketing. Aware of these challenges, CCI-Togo designed this initiative to help businesses adapt to the economic and technological changes shaping the global commercial landscape. With the growing digitalization of services, it is imperative for Togolese SMEs not to be left behind in this evolution.
The ProDigiT program specifically targets businesses with limited resources. Many Togolese SMEs face challenges in integrating digital technologies into their daily operations, which hinders their growth and competitiveness. Through personalized support, CCI-Togo intends to bridge this gap. The 50 mobilized consultants will focus on key areas, including:
- Digital Marketing: Helping companies develop their online presence and use social media to reach new customers.
- Information Management: Setting up effective systems for managing customer and operational data.
- Enhancing Online Sales: Advising businesses on best practices to optimize their digital sales platforms.
Selection process and expert intervention 🔍
The companies selected to benefit from this initiative will be chosen based on specific criteria, such as their industry, growth potential, and willingness to embrace digitalization. Consultants will work with entrepreneurs to assess the specific needs of each business and propose tailored solutions over several months. This support will also include practical training on digital tools and best management practices.
The benefits of digital transformation 💡
This project has multiple benefits. By integrating modern tools, local SMEs should not only increase their productivity but also diversify their sales channels. This will allow them to reach a broader customer base, notably through e-commerce, a sector still underutilized by many Togolese businesses.
Digitalization also opens up opportunities for innovation. Companies will be able to develop new products and services tailored to their customers’ needs, thereby strengthening their market position. Moreover, this initiative is expected to facilitate access to financing, as many investors favor companies that have integrated modern technologies, demonstrating their adaptability and growth potential.
A long-term vision for Togo’s economy ♾️
This project is part of a broader vision of the Togolese government, which sees digitalization as a pillar of its economic development. By supporting the digital transformation of SMEs, Togo aspires to build a resilient economy capable of withstanding global economic crises and committing to inclusive and sustainable growth.
With the support of German Cooperation, CCI-Togo relies on proven practices and modern methodologies, partnering with international experts to ensure high-level guidance. The selected businesses will not only have the opportunity to transform their operations but also to create a dynamic entrepreneurial ecosystem that fosters innovation and competitiveness.
