Currently in the beta version, WhatsApp is adding two new features that will make it an ultra-secure and very intuitive application: a new design coming soon and an additional layer of security that can take the place of WhatsApp’s global lock.
WhatsApp strengthens our privacy protection🛡
Not happy with offering end-to-end encrypted conversations, time-limited groups and more and more security options, WhatsApp is adding a new feature in beta dedicated to account security and user privacy. It was spotted by the reference site WABetaInfo. WhatsApp will provide users with the ability to lock discussions on the application.

You can therefore decide to lock your specific discussions or even very … or discussion groups on your smartphone. If the feature is enabled in the settings, you will need to enter your PIN or fingerprint to access these chats. Locked chats are automatically moved to a new dedicated tab. They will only be accessible there. This is great news for those who want to add a layer of security to their most private conversations.
Only the owner of the WhatsApp account will then be able to access the locked messages and groups. According to WABetaInfo, which was able to try out the option, if someone tries to access them and fails authentication requests, they will be asked to delete the discussion before accessing it. In this way, conversations will always be protected, even in the event of an intrusion.
The feature has several advantages. Firstly, it allows media to be kept private. Photos or videos sent in locked chats are not automatically saved on the devices. Another advantage is that the option offers an alternative to the global application lock that is currently available. This means that a user will no longer have to constantly enter his or her code or fingerprint to access the application and will be able to launch it more quickly.
The option is still under development and is expected to be rolled out in an update for the general public in the near future.
A more modern and intuitive interface
While Meta is making an effort in terms of functionality, the design seems to have been left out. But WABetaInfo has spotted a new navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
