WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging applications in the world, however, until recently it lacked an important feature: the ability to use the application on multiple phones. This is now possible.

WhatsApp on 2 phones? It’s now possible

WhatsApp has been working for some time on improving the way devices connect to a WhatsApp account. Last year, a feature was introduced that allowed users to connect from other devices without the main phone being connected to the internet. However, this feature was limited to computers and web browsers.
Today, WhatsApp officially announces the ability to connect to another smartphone, a feature familiar to Telegram users. The process is similar to that used to connect WhatsApp to a web browser, tablet or desktop computer. Each associated phone connects to WhatsApp independently, ensuring end-to-end encryption of your personal messages, media and calls. In addition, if your main phone is idle for a long period of time, WhatsApp automatically disconnects all associated devices.

How do I connect WhatsApp to another phone?🔗

The procedure is the same as when you want to connect WhatsApp to a computer.
From the « Welcome to WhatsApp » application setup page, press the « Accept and continue » button at the bottom of the screen. Next, you will be prompted to enter your phone number, but you don’t have to. Access the advanced options by pressing the three-dot button at the top right of the screen. In the menu that appears, select « Connect Device ». WhatsApp will then display a QR code on the screen.

Then go to your main smartphone. Open WhatsApp and go to « Settings ». Then select the « Connected Devices » menu and press the « Connect Device » button. To establish the connection, scan the QR code displayed on the screen of your secondary device using your main smartphone. That’s it!
After connecting your secondary smartphone to your primary smartphone, the primary smartphone will start to synchronise the data. After a few minutes you should be able to access all your messages on your secondary device.
If you want to disconnect your secondary smartphone, you will just have to go to the same menu « Connected device ». Once the list of devices is displayed, choose your secondary smartphone and press the « Disconnect » or « Delete Device » button.

In the coming weeks, WhatsApp will offer a new and easier way to link your account to other devices. You will be able to enter your phone number on WhatsApp Web and receive a unique code on your phone to activate the association. This process will replace the current QR code scan.
The rollout is underway worldwide and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
