Three students from Nîmes, France, have created Meoria, a mobile application that simplifies post-high school orientation. Its goal is to support students in their search for academic programs. The app offers a fun and intuitive approach without replacing « Parcoursup. »
A tool designed to simplify orientation 🎓
With the opening of Parcoursup registrations, many high school students find themselves overwhelmed by anxiety and the complexity of the process. It was based on this observation that Alexandre Klobb, Samuel Chomat, and Dimitri Choudhury, three 19-year-old students, came up with Meoria.
Rather than replacing Parcoursup, they wanted to create an effective and accessible complement. As Dimitri Choudhury explains to the media:
« We are not here to compete with them, we are here to help students. »
As of March 11, 2025, the app had 25,000 users and ranked 11th among the most downloaded educational apps on the App Store.
Interactive orientation with Meoria🏆
To design Meoria, its creators took inspiration from popular apps among young people, such as Tinder and Duolingo. The goal is to make orientation more intuitive and engaging.
Like Duolingo, Meoria features a mascot, a little monkey named Meo. Inspired by Tinder, a “swipe” system allows students to swipe right or left depending on their agreement with certain statements: “A regular exam schedule seems stimulating,” “Attending lectures with hundreds of people,” “Quickly immersing in professional life.”
Once these preferences are recorded, the app analyzes the student’s profile based on their grade level, subjects, grades, and interests. It then generates a personalized ranking of academic programs, indicating the match percentage for each field.
Quick and simplified access to programs 📚
Thanks to its streamlined interface, Meoria allows users to filter results based on geographical criteria. Additionally, it provides easy access to detailed descriptions on Parcoursup. With one click, students can move from discovery to registration without wasting time. The app does more than refine students’ searches—it also includes an AI assistant dubbed the “ChatGPT of orientation.” This assistant answers questions and directs users to relevant resources.
The Meoria team doesn’t plan to stop there. Two new features are in development:
- An admission probability estimator to assess the chances of getting into a program.
- A program comparison tool to better weigh the pros and cons of different choices.
Moreover, the founders are seeking to establish a partnership with Parcoursup and Onisep to gain institutional support.
« We want to be recognized as a useful complement, not a competitor, » explains Dimitri Choudhury.
A business model under consideration💰
Currently, Meoria is entirely free and does not generate any revenue. However, the creators are considering a business model involving collaboration with schools. The idea is that institutions could access students’ profiles without favoring any particular school.
Available on app stores and meoria.com, the app continues to expand. The three students aim to turn their project into a company while keeping their main goal of providing the best possible solution for student orientation.
What do you think ??!!
Do you believe Meoria can truly help students find their way?
