On November 5th, Orange Cameroon inaugurated its 4th Digital Center Club at the University of Ngaoundéré. This dedicated space aims to expand digital training initiatives in the northern regions by providing students with access to information technologies, educational resources, and supervised workshops. The goal? To turn these centers into hubs of innovation, entrepreneurship, and skills development for the Cameroon of tomorrow.

Democratizing digital access in the northern regions 🎓

The opening of the Digital Center Club in Ngaoundéré contributes to digital inclusion in remote areas of Cameroon. Located in the heart of the University of Ngaoundéré, in the Adamawa region, this center offers students access to essential digital resources. These include complementary training, content developed in partnership with universities, and easier access to the Internet. This new space is designed to bridge the digital divide between major cities like Douala and Yaoundé and less urbanized areas.

With the support of Orange Cameroon, students in the region gain access to cutting-edge tools and training tailored to technology and entrepreneurship. This initiative is part of a broader plan to deploy Orange Digital Center Clubs in all state universities, aiming for a nationwide impact.

Promoting digital inclusion 📈

The Ngaoundéré Digital Center Club stands out by offering specific training programs in digital skills. It features workstations equipped for e-learning, hands-on workshops, and coaching sessions with digital experts. Despite network challenges, Orange Cameroon is committed to supporting the emergence of a robust tech ecosystem by providing direct access to digital expertise.

According to Patrick Benon, CEO of Orange Cameroon, the company aims to be a driver of digital transformation in Cameroon. « We believe in the importance of digital inclusion to build a more equitable future, » he explains. « By investing in young people’s skills, we create the conditions for them to become agents of change and address societal needs, » he adds.

A boost for entrepreneurship and innovation 🚀

The center in Ngaoundéré goes beyond training young people—it also encourages them to innovate and create businesses. Through practical training and brainstorming workshops, Orange Cameroon aims to inspire a generation of entrepreneurs capable of developing local solutions to the country’s challenges.

The digital training provided enables students to acquire the skills needed to launch their own projects or startups. Topics covered include project management, coding, and digital marketing.

From Douala to Ngaoundéré, via Buea and Yaoundé 🌐

With this 4th center, Orange Cameroon continues to expand its model across the country. Since the launch of the first Orange Digital Center in Douala in 2020, followed by Yaoundé in 2021 and Buea in early 2024, the company aims to extend its programs to all state universities in Cameroon. In the coming weeks, another center will open at the University of Dschang in the Western region.

All centers will be interconnected to ensure continuity in training and foster enriching exchanges between students from different regions. By enhancing access to knowledge, Orange Cameroon hopes to reduce regional disparities in digital skills and support socio-economic development.

Funding for youth and african entrepreneurs 💸

Launched in Douala in 2020, the Orange Digital Center program is powered by Orange Ventures, a €50 million investment fund for the Africa and Middle East region. The project has already trained over 3,049 people, including 39% women, and created nearly 609 jobs between 2020 and 2023.

This funding allows Orange Cameroon to develop sustainable initiatives that support training and employment, with a focus on youth and entrepreneurship. With ambitious goals, the company aims to transform access to digital resources for a broad audience and promote equal opportunities throughout Cameroon.
