Telegram, the messaging app often compared to WhatsApp, is celebrating its 10th anniversary. And to mark the occasion, the app has unveiled a new feature: stories.

Telegram’s most requested feature📈

According to Telegram’s founder, stories account for more than half of user requests for new features. So, Telegram introduced stories to offer a user-friendly way to share moments and discover more content from friends.

Stories appear in a section at the top of your screen, which you can expand as needed. This ensures that you always have access to your conversation list and folders.

When you’re viewing a Story, you can easily share, reply privately and react. Tap to express your appreciation using the ♥️ symbol, or hold to choose from a wide variety of additional reactions.

By default, the home page will show stories from all your contacts. To filter the stories of certain contacts, it is possible to move them to your archived exchanges.

Dual camera mode, stickers, location and captions🤩

Stories offer the ability to capture both photos and videos with both front and rear cameras, enabling versatile recording.

Telegram has always been known for its powerful multimedia editor, which it enhances with Stories. This allows text, drawings, stickers and even location to be added to shared content. Stories also support captions for richer descriptions, allowing the mention of friends and the insertion of links.

Users can add their own images from the gallery and search for GIFs and images online.

In the event of errors, users can update any aspect of their story at any time, without deleting it, including visibility, caption, displayed text, stickers, and more.

Accurate privacy settings🔐

When sharing a story, users can choose between 4 privacy options: « Everyone », « Contacts », « Close friends », and « Selected Contacts », each of which is customizable. A list of excludable users can be created, ensuring a desired audience. This means that individuals such as your supervisor or grandmother won’t witness your adventurous side 😉

For greater confidentiality, screenshots can be deactivated. The lifespan of stories can be adjusted between 6, 12, 24 or 48 hours, with the option of displaying them on the profile in the form of a grid.

Detailed statistics 📈

Each story view is saved in a list visible to the author, acting as a read receipt. After sharing a story, you can open it to consult the list of views. You can filter this list to show only your contacts, and you can sort views by recency or reactions. If you want to check whether a specific user has seen your content, simply enter their name in the search bar.

Stealth mode for Premium users🥷🏾

To guarantee an extra level of anonymity, Premium users can activate Stealth Mode, erasing viewing traces on stories from the last 5 minutes and masking their story opens for the next 25 minutes.
