The Cameroonian company ST-Digital, specialized in digital services, announced on February 13, 2025, the acquisition of land within the Nkok Special Economic Zone (GSEZ). This site in Gabon will host the construction of an eco-friendly data center. This project promotes sustainable development and technological innovation while addressing the growing challenges of digital sovereignty in Central Africa.

A data center designed to reduce its carbon footprint ♻

The data center will be equipped with cutting-edge technologies to minimize its environmental impact. ST-Digital plans to use renewable energy sources, including the installation of solar panels. The company also aims to collaborate with green electricity providers, ensuring a more environmentally friendly energy supply.

To optimize energy consumption, the site will integrate sustainable cooling systems. These include adiabatic cooling techniques, which significantly reduce electricity consumption while ensuring efficient cooling. Additionally, a rainwater recycling system will be implemented, demonstrating ST-Digital’s commitment to preserving natural resources.

A promising project for Gabon 🇬🇦

Gabon still heavily relies on foreign infrastructures for data hosting. This situation leads to latency issues, high costs, and vulnerability to cyberattacks. By offering a local solution, ST-Digital aims to address these challenges.

Furthermore, the future data center will host data for public institutions, local businesses, and Gabonese citizens. It will also comply with international security standards, ensuring better protection of sensitive information. This initiative will strengthen Gabon’s digital resilience and reduce connectivity costs.

A driver for the digital economy 🚀

This project aligns with Gabon’s digital diversification strategy. It will boost the sector and create new skilled jobs. By investing in local infrastructure, ST-Digital is accelerating the country’s digital transformation.

With this data center, the company reaffirms its role as a key player in Central Africa’s digital transition. This project also proves that technological development and environmental sustainability can go hand in hand.
