Yango, the ride-hailing app operating in Cameroon, has just obtained a five-year extension of its operating license. This extension, granted by the Ministry of Transport, aims to strengthen the company’s presence in the country. Through collaboration with its local partners, Yango now seeks to expand its services and enhance its offerings to meet the growing expectations of users.

A gradual expansion in major cities 🏙

Since its launch in 2021, Yango has established itself in Yaoundé and Douala, the country’s two main metropolitan areas. However, in order to reach a wider audience, the platform plans to expand its services to Bafoussam in the first quarter of this year. This expansion will provide residents of the region with modern, reliable, and secure transportation solutions.

Furthermore, through this expansion, the company aims to adapt to users’ needs and offer alternatives to traditional means of transportation. Yango hopes to improve urban mobility while contributing to local economic development.

A commitment to service improvement 🚗

Beyond geographical expansion, Yango is betting on innovation to enhance service quality. The platform intends to optimize its application and improve the driving skills of its partners. To achieve this, the company plans to invest in driver training, safety improvements, and the introduction of new features tailored to local realities.

Additionally, Yango aims to diversify its services by integrating more digital financial solutions to simplify transactions and offer greater flexibility to users.

A significant economic impact 📊

Since its establishment, Yango has collaborated with around 150 local transport companies, contributing to the creation of over 6,000 direct and indirect jobs. The app now has nearly 150,000 active users per month, a figure that reflects its growing adoption and influence in Cameroon’s ride-hailing sector.

However, despite this expansion, the company faces several challenges, including limited road infrastructure, constantly evolving regulations, and increasing competition. Nevertheless, by relying on a collaborative and innovative model, Yango appears well-positioned to continue its growth.
