Google recently held its traditional Google I/O conference, during which the web giant presented its latest innovations that should soon appear in our daily lives. This year, artificial intelligence (AI) was in the spotlight.
Gmail will write your emails for you ✍🏾
Gmail already has AI-based features such as Smart Compose, which completes sentences, and Smart Reply, which offers short answers. Google has decided to take it a step further with a new feature called « Help Me Write ». As with ChatGPT, you’ll be able to simply ask Gmail to write an email for you, and then you’ll be able to customize it to your preferences.
Edit your photos in a few clicks with Google Photos🪄
Plan your trips on Google Maps even better with the immersive view 📍
After the first-person view of Street View, a new feature called Immersive View will allow you to plan your trips with a third-person view in 3D. This immersive view will show you buildings, trees, roads and traffic in 3D. You’ll even get a glimpse of the weather through dynamic animations.
For the moment, only 15 cities, including London, New York, Tokyo, San Francisco and Paris, will be eligible by the end of the year
Google Search takes inspiration from Bing 🔍
Who would have thought that Google Search would be inspired by Bing to improve its experience? Except that it’s reality. Just like Bing, Google will allow users to ask questions directly in the search bar in order to get a complete answer generated automatically. This answer will be displayed in a dedicated insert, which will provide a summary of the searched information as well as links to the sources. The classic Google search results will be displayed just below. Additional options below the insert will allow you to engage in a conversation to refine the search, similar to Bing.
Google says that the generative AI used in this feature is still experimental, which means there may be potential errors. For this reason, this feature is only available in the United States via Search Labs.
Google wants to revolutionize dubbing with Universal Translator 👄
Google wants to revolutionize video dubbing by using AI to translate from one language to another while preserving the original intonation and mood. This technology goes beyond simple audio conversion by also reproducing the voice, intonation and facial expressions of the speaker. In other words, the translated video adjusts the speaker’s lip movements to match the language-specific expressions.
Google made it clear that access to Universal Translator is currently limited to authorized partners.
Google also unveiled other new features for Android and Google Workspaces, which we will cover in future articles. Be sure to follow our blog and social networks so you don’t miss anything.
