No more forgotten replies: WhatsApp adds built-in reminders 📣

We’ve all done it—left a WhatsApp message unanswered, fully intending to reply “later.” Now, that vague intention might actually turn into action. WhatsApp is working on a new built-in reminder feature that could turn the messaging app into a powerful personal assistant.
Reminders, made simple: here’s how it works 📲
The concept is clean and intuitive: long-press any message, and you’ll see a new option—“Remind me.” Tap it, and you’ll be able to choose from preset time intervals (2 hours, 8 hours, 24 hours), or set a custom date and time. No more juggling sticky notes or third-party apps. Everything happens right within WhatsApp, for seamless message management.
Once a reminder is set, a subtle bell icon appears on the message. At the chosen time, WhatsApp will send you a notification—including the message content and its original context—so you can pick up the conversation without losing the thread. It’s tidy, intuitive, and hard to miss.
Here’s another thoughtful touch: reminders are local only. That means the other person in the chat won’t see that you’ve set one, and no extra notifications are sent to them. Everything stays on your device, keeping your message management private and discreet.
Still in beta, but full rollout feels inevitable ⏳
Right now, only a handful of Android users on beta version 2.25.21.14 have access to the feature. There’s no official timeline for a wider launch—or iOS support—but considering how useful this could be for users constantly navigating multiple chats, it’s likely just a matter of time.
With this feature, WhatsApp is clearly aiming to become more than just a chat app. It’s inching toward being a centralized space for managing digital promises, follow-ups, and daily coordination. How users embrace this change remains to be seen—but it could be a game changer for productivity-minded multitaskers.
